Patriots at Dolphins live updates: Inactives, news, and analysis
In New England’s first bout against Miami this season, New England put on one of its sloppiest performances of the season, losing to the Tua Tagovailoa-less Dolphins, 15-10.
At one point in that Week 5 game, the Patriots had more penalty yards than passing yards, 89-70, and Jacoby Brissett was 18 of 34 for 160 yards passing.
The Patriots have a chance Sunday to show how much they’ve improved since that loss.
Unlike the last go-around, they’ll be up against Tagovailoa, who missed four games — including Week 5 against the Patriots — with a concussion. In the four games he missed, the Dolphins averaged 10 points per game. Since he returned in Week 8 against the Cardinals, they are averaging 28.8 points per game.
The game kicks off at 1 p.m. in Miami. You can watch on CBS or listen on 98.5 The Sports Hub. Follow along below for live updates and analysis throughout the game.

The Watch List: The Patriots never make it simple in Miami. Here’s what you need to know. — 10:30 a.m.
By Christopher Price
For the Patriots, games in Miami have never been simple.
Sure, there have been some impressive moments over the years, but even when the Dolphins were miserable and playing out the string, strange things have happened. There have been several very good Patriots teams that have seen games in Miami turn into something out of an Elmore Leonard novel.
In 2018, there was The Miracle in Miami, a last-second series of laterals that turned a surefire win into a shocking loss.
Late in the 2015 season, needing a win to secure home-field advantage, Bill Belichick confused everyone by putting the game in the hands of veteran running back Steven Jackson. It did not go well; the Patriots dropped a 20-10 decision to a woeful Miami team, and ended up losing to the Broncos — in Denver — in the AFC title game.
There were ugly losses in 2014, 2009, 2006, 2004, and 2001. Games where the Patriots came in as sizable favorites, only to suffer strange and shocking defeats to the Dolphins.
So how can New England change the energy? A good place to start would be a return to the physical football we saw at the start of the 2024 season.
